Is there software to create storyboards from a video file so that you can take notes on the storyboard screenshots at the various times?

It be neat if you could watch the movie and click a button to mark the frame for a screenshot in the list.

Hello,
I would like to record some Spotify songs because Spotify is the music service I like a lot and I would like to add its music to my homemade videos. Shortly, I would like to make some video clips with me and my girlfriend and we both love Spotify music and we would like to have it as background as our video clips. So, to rip Spotify music do I need a special Spotify Music Ripper or any recording app?
Thanks a lot.

Does anyone know of a program, utility, web-app etc, that can be used as a stopwatch to track/display the amount of time that has passed since the user clicked the start button?

The utility must additionally track/display the same amount of time on the other observing computers; i.e. when I click the start button on the first/master computer, the other two computers will receive a packet telling them to start their stopwatches as well; and the same will happen when I click the stop button on the first/master computer the other two computers will receive a packet telling them to stop their timers.

I have seen a similar functionality in Work Rave however it cannot be started/stopped.

My intention is to use the functionality to record a screencast the spans multiple computers, and to use the syncro-timer so that I can tell later in video editing when each scene occured.

http://videowtf.com/questions/44/is-any-linux-video-editing-software-considered-stable-or-goodIs any Linux video editing software considered stable or good?jakeseven2009-10-07T21:23:18Z2010-03-06T09:15:49Z

I'd consider myself a Linux hobbyist (dual boot desktop w/ windows) and definitely don't have a lot of editing experience, aside from a windows video editing program that came with my camera (it's not very good). That said, I'd really like to try a Linux video editor, but haven't seen a lot of good info on them (cinelerra, pitivi, and others).

Here's what I'd like to do:

Import video from my sony handycam with firewire (it uses the small tapes)

Cut up footage from a few of my latest races

Remix the footage with some mp3's

Post the video to a sharing site (probably YouTube)

I've read there are problems with stability and other stuff, but the articles might be out of date.

Does anyone have any firsthand experience with them? Which is supposed to be the stablest and easiest?

My new Kodak zI8 pocket video camera is wonderful in many ways. BUT the zoom stops-and-starts, and produces a squeak that is picked up on the audio track. Has anybody else had this experience? (I haven't seen it referenced in reviews.) Is it just a glitch in my camera, or a flaw with the model? Other than return it, any recommended self-administered fixes? Thanks!

I'm trying to figure out what setting to use to compress some.mov files --- they are currently between 2 GB and 6 GB each and I want to make them smaller because I have to share them with some folks who will be editing them in final cut pro.

So I'm trying to figure out what setting to use in Compressor --- someone suggested Apple ProRes but that actually doubled the size of the files.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

http://videowtf.com/questions/719/know-of-any-live-hd-webcams-streaming-ala-abcKnow of any Live HD webcams streaming? Ala ABC kellyllek2010-01-13T18:41:46Z2010-02-27T08:25:37Z

Thus far I've yet to see the streaming quality of ABC's shows online. Their HD broadcasts really appear clear on my full screen, though they use their own proprietary player. I've seen some pretty good videos on Hulu and Youtube, but I'm really looking for any live web cams on the net that also broadcast in HD? I feel if ABC can stream a show in HD then why can't a live cam? I don't care if it's 1 or two minutes behind, just would really like it to feel live.

I'm looking for live stationary scenes like river views and city streets, basically so I can pump them full screen on one of my monitors and pretend I'm there!

Camstreams.com offers some great example webcams, but nothing comes close to HD.

Also, I see MS has a decent HD webcam on amazon for $55. I want to set up so I can inexpensively broadcast a great quality for video conferencing and such and wondered your recommendations?

I have a Sanyo VPC-WH1 waterproof video camera. I use it normally too, but the video quality tends to be lacking (high noise, low detail, despite 720p resolution). Does anyone else own this camera and have any techniques (in-camera or post-production) that makes this camera's video look better?

Hello guys, I was wondering if any of you has any idea on whether it is possible to record Netflix movies and of course maybe even on how to capture or record Netflix live video streams. I would love to be able to record Netflix movies so I could also watch them on my laptop without being necessary to have an internet connection set up on it. Do I need to install some sort of special Netflix Video Downloader or any ordinary app will do?

http://videowtf.com/questions/179/safest-option-for-embedding-html5-video-ie-display-flash-player-on-older-browserSafest option for embedding html5 video (ie display flash player on older browsers)?FSilver2009-10-08T15:06:42Z2010-02-24T20:50:37Z

I'm very interested in adding some videos that are "Open Video" friendly to my site. I've read a few tutorials on rollback systems that will safely give viewers a flash player if their browser doesn't support html5 , but I'm not at all sure what the best option is.

My biggest concern is making sure that the video plays no matter what! Have the various scripts been tested in many scenarios?

Somehow I have accumulated 18 different teacher badges, mostly my own failure to remember my exact logon for consistency. Would you like to concatentate all that stuff into one user id and I'll try to remember what it is? (OK, how's B. Vaughan) Thanks :) B. Vaughan

http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encodeKeep "Date Created/Modified" Info from Before EncodeGrant2010-01-27T01:04:15Z2010-02-22T01:44:53Z

I had a bunch of video files (.TODs - mpgv video, mpga audio) that were useless unless I converted them, so I did.

Once I converted them, the "Date Created" and "Date Modified" (that you see in the Finder) were obviously changed, since new files were created from the old ones. Is there an easy way to move the data for the dates from the old files to the new ones (preferably not manually)? The project I am doing is chronology-dependent, so being able to sort by date is essential.

I would be willing to convert all the files again, if there was a way to retain the info through conversion in either a different converter.

I used ffmpegx with a program called "Quick Batcher" so I could batch convert the files.
I'm on a Mac, with Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard).
Any help would be really appreciated!

I currently use Corel's Video Studio to batch convert videos to a format Vimeo can eat. It does the job, but I found that even on a quad core processor it only uses two of the cores (ie, two threads). Further, I'm converting to mpeg2 due to the limitations in the h.264 codec that comes with video studio (doesn't seem to like HD video).

I need software that:

Does batch conversions

Supports HD video in and out with no problems

Supports avchd m2ts input

Is fine with 24fps

Can be command line scripted

Great support for MP4/h.264/etc codecs

Windows

Preferably free, but I'm willing to pay for it if it's what I need and inexpensive (ie, $100 price range).

I'm interested in building an automated workflow, so if the software handles pre-roll, post-roll, overlay logos, titling, etc from a command line or script, even better!

Hello, all. I am writing from Mathalicious, a free service which provides teachers & students with real-world math content. (Lessons explore whether music will help you run faster, Moore's Law and the history of video games, whether Wheel of Fortune is rigged, etc).

In addition to the handouts and other classroom materials, we want to provide users with videos that convey the content in an engaging and informative way. If you have a moment to view this sample skills video, we'd be grateful for your thoughts on:

How to avoid the green-screen fringing effect;

How to improve the animations to be less static (3D?), and what kinds of programs/skill sets should we be seeking (Motion, After Effects?);

General impressions & suggestions.

I know this is fairly open-ended, but we really would appreciate your expertise. Our strength is in creating meaningful math content. Video production? Not so much.

http://videowtf.com/questions/748/transmit-analog-video-signal-without-wires-most-inexpensive-setup-fmtransmit analog video signal without wires - most inexpensive setup - FM?StereoSteve2010-02-03T23:11:56Z2010-02-05T14:13:10Z

I have a video camera with RCA out. I want to transmit the video signal in real time to a TV in a different room. I am hoping there is some inexpensive (like $30) components that will send and receive an analoge video signal.

VGA qualtiy is good enough. I think FM would be easiest. Perhaps even a walkie talkie would work. Security cameras come to mind but are too expensive. I am considering this product from sparkfun, but wonder if I can add more receivers later, and I'm interested in using cameras I already own, etc.

Ideally:

Sender could be battery powered (ie camera is portable) 9V - 12V

Receiver could be battery powered (ie TV is portable) 9V - 12V

One sender, multiple recievers (ie one camera, multiple TVs)

Any good ideas? My friend is good with electronics and could possibly build something from a design, but I was thinking there is probably a cheap existing prodcut with an integrated cirtcuit that has an RCA / Phono jack on either end.

http://videowtf.com/questions/448/whats-the-best-low-no-budget-strategy-for-embedding-videos-in-my-sitewhat's the best low-/no-budget strategy for embedding videos in my site?cwgng2009-10-20T02:26:42Z2010-02-05T13:30:59Z

i'm excited about all the html5 video embedding stuff i've read (especially the online book in progress, "diving into html5"), and i'm excited to move forward in implementing it for the community media center where i work. switching away from blip.tv and youtube as our hosts for embedding video into our web site would lessen the extent to which they pull away traffic and viewers, though we could still use those sites for promotional purposes. it would also help us to get rid of other people's logos on our embedded videos.

i'm less excited, though, about what this means for our bandwidth usage. at the moment we don't stream or host any video ourselves, "offshoring" all of the data charges to the aforementioned companies. (i unfortunately don't know how our web hosting plan works, but i can't imagine it would be free to begin serving lots of GB's of video content.)

SO! my central question is, what's the best, cheapest strategy for shifting to a modern/non-branded video embedding method WITHOUT incurring high fees for hugely increasing my bandwidth usage?

(PLEASE: instead of giving me answers about the lack of wide support for

tags yet, please read this Q&A thread and realize that i have also read through it. THANKS!)

and now, some more specific questions:

can a

element refer to source(s) hosted elsewhere — like a .mp4 or .flv file from blip.tv? moreover, is this considered "bad web practice", like having

tags load images saved on other people's servers?

what about archive.org? do they re-encode video (as does youtube) when you upload it, or is it flexible? (i need to explore this more myself too)

does some other non-branding, format-agnostic, free video hosting site exist that i'm not aware of?

thanks so much to anyone who can help!
