I'm trying to figure out what setting to use to compress some.mov files --- they are currently between 2 GB and 6 GB each and I want to make them smaller because I have to share them with some folks who will be editing them in final cut pro.

So I'm trying to figure out what setting to use in Compressor --- someone suggested Apple ProRes but that actually doubled the size of the files.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

I use FCP to edit and recently I've noticed that when I bring HD footage into my timeline I am loosing some color depth.

Here is a screen shot:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2701/4109740183_4937790fba_o.png

On the left is my original footage and on the right is after it is in the timeline.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to prevent this?
