Grant 2010-05-24T22:21:49Z 2010-05-24T22:21:49Z
The Canon HF R100 and R10 are the closest to your price range (both cameras are same, except R10 has built in flash memory).

There is an option to switch from 30fps to 24fps. The specs state that there are manual exposure options too.

You're gonna have to pay more to get some good manual controls, unless you buy used.

There's also the option of buying a Canon T1i or T2i. While they're a little higher priced than you want, you'll get really precise aperture/shutter/focus and great picture quality
http://videowtf.com/questions/826/recover-splice-an-old-sentimentally-valuable-cassette-tape/827#827 Answer by Grant for RECOVER/SPLICE AN OLD SENTIMENTALLY VALUABLE CASSETTE TAPE Grant 2010-04-06T20:49:59Z 2010-04-06T20:49:59Z
Is the VHS still playable at all? Grant 2010-02-24T20:50:37Z 2010-02-24T20:50:37Z
Here's a HTML5 video player It says it will add support in older IE versions for automatically falling back to Flash.

It hasn't been released yet, but you should follow its development.

http://jilion.com/sublime/video
http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encode Keep "Date Created/Modified" Info from Before Encode Grant 2010-01-27T01:04:15Z 2010-02-22T01:44:53Z
I had a bunch of video files (.TODs - mpgv video, mpga audio) that were useless unless I converted them, so I did.

Once I converted them, the "Date Created" and "Date Modified" (that you see in the Finder) were obviously changed, since new files were created from the old ones. Is there an easy way to move the data for the dates from the old files to the new ones (preferably not manually)? The project I am doing is chronology-dependent, so being able to sort by date is essential.

I would be willing to convert all the files again, if there was a way to retain the info through conversion in either a different converter.

I used ffmpegx with a program called "Quick Batcher" so I could batch convert the files. I'm on a Mac, with Mac OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). Any help would be really appreciated!
http://videowtf.com/questions/777/how-to-capture-and-save-netflix-live-video-streams/778#778 Answer by Grant for How to capture and save Netflix live video streams? Grant 2010-02-13T21:55:39Z 2010-02-18T20:03:20Z
Netflix movies aren't meant to be downloaded; they are only for streaming.

You could use some sort of screen capture software to take a video of it, and use something like AudioHijack to get the audio, then put them together in a video editing program.

I think it would be considered illegal to do something like that though. If you were going to do it anyway, you might as well just get the movie from a torrent.

If you're on a Mac:

-Snow Leopard has a built in screen video capture feature in Quicktime X.

-For purchase- iShowU, Snapz Pro X, or ScreenFlow

-Audio Hijack Pro for recording the audio from your web browser If you're on a PC

-CamStudio is a screen recording program for Windows. If you search around, I'm sure you could find something else.

-Audacity for audio capture

(Google the programs to find them - I can't post more than one link)

After You get your audio and video streams, you'd have to line both of them up in a video editing program (iMovie is fine for Mac, Windows Movie Maker would work for PC; if you have other programs you should use them)

Hope this helps. Keep in mind that some or all of this might be illegal, and that it would be much easier for you to just pirate it.
http://videowtf.com/questions/605/korg-kaoss-entrancer-replacement/770#770 Answer by Grant for Korg Kaoss Entrancer replacement? Grant 2010-01-28T23:58:46Z 2010-01-28T23:58:46Z
I don't think the Mino software is compatible with 10.3.9. It should just mount as an external drive though, and you can drag the video files from there. Is there a specific feature you are missing from the Flip Software?
http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encode/784#784 Comment by Grant Grant 2010-02-24T20:45:04Z 2010-02-24T20:45:04Z thats what it was. worked great! thanks. http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encode/784#784 Comment by Grant Grant 2010-02-22T22:31:22Z 2010-02-22T22:31:22Z when i tried executing retoucher.sh, I get: touch: *.tod: No such file or directory http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encode/784#784 Comment by Grant Grant 2010-02-21T20:30:36Z 2010-02-21T20:30:36Z sounds good. thank you! http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encode/784#784 Comment by Grant Grant 2010-02-21T03:37:22Z 2010-02-21T03:37:22Z Thank you for the response! I tried doing one of the files manually, and it worked great! The file names have stayed the same (namea.tod -> namea.mov), but I'm not sure what you mean exactly with the bash commands and scripting (I'm not an experienced scripter/Unix guy). What kind of script could i write so that x.TOD in folder A corresponds with x.MOV in folder B, and have it automatically take care of all the files? http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encode Comment by Grant Grant 2010-01-28T23:55:46Z 2010-01-28T23:55:46Z Mac on OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard) http://videowtf.com/questions/737/keep-date-created-modified-info-from-before-encode Comment by Grant Grant 2010-01-28T02:51:03Z 2010-01-28T02:51:03Z .TOD is a proprietary JVC video format that uses the mpga audio codec and mpgv video codec. I used ffmpegX to convert them into .MOV files.
