Anyone checked out izzyvideo.com? The guy has no experience, just repackages info that he only half-understands and charges a subscription fee. Does anyone actually pay it?

yeah, I've been a subscriber for a few months until I realized he's making articles you find on the web into a video. Regurgitating other people's stuff is not cool. Coming off as an expert when you're not is also not cool |

The whole vibe of his site is kind of creepy, but you are right he does not understand a lot of what he is talking about. He has obviously never worked professionally with a camera of any sort. |

I like Izzy. In some very short videos, he shows people the basics. He is in not great at everything but I think he does a very good job through several videos of teaching some basic lighting techniques. |

Found this thread via Google alerts. I thought I'd chime in so you can hear this straight from the horse's mouth. First of all, I do make a living by shooting and editing video, not just for IzzyVideo.com, but also for Paperclipping.com, RollingRs.com, and soon with StuffDesignersDo.com. In my spare time, I do creative video projects as a cinematographer. The artistic stuff is fulfilling, but it's not my main source of income. My videos are used in place of textbooks in video production courses in more than one university. They've been licensed for video training by companies such as Microsoft and Metacafe. I have had thousands of people sign up for my membership program, and the feedback I've received from them has been very positive overall. I've only been working with video for about 10 years, and only as my full-time income for the last two years. My content is designed mostly to be helpful to beginners. Highly advanced video shooters likely wouldn't have much to learn from my tutorials -- although I've been told by veterans that they're great refreshers. Of course, neither my website nor my videos are perfect. When I see a video I made five years ago, I sometimes want to remake it. And I sometimes do. Anyway, I'd love to get your feedback as to what could be improved about my website. All of my contact info is on the "About" page of my site. Thanks, Paul, for the support by the way. |
