I have a video camera with RCA out. I want to transmit the video signal in real time to a TV in a different room. I am hoping there is some inexpensive (like $30) components that will send and receive an analoge video signal.

VGA qualtiy is good enough. I think FM would be easiest. Perhaps even a walkie talkie would work. Security cameras come to mind but are too expensive. I am considering this product from sparkfun, but wonder if I can add more receivers later, and I'm interested in using cameras I already own, etc.

Ideally:

  • Sender could be battery powered (ie camera is portable) 9V - 12V
  • Receiver could be battery powered (ie TV is portable) 9V - 12V
  • One sender, multiple recievers (ie one camera, multiple TVs)

Any good ideas? My friend is good with electronics and could possibly build something from a design, but I was thinking there is probably a cheap existing prodcut with an integrated cirtcuit that has an RCA / Phono jack on either end.

Loads of Video Senders around. Quality is not likely to be good.

I used to have a little 9V UHF one that I taped to a camera, and used a portable TV for checking the cameraman's framing, but I'm not sure how legal that ever was...
